Future Foundation Organization, Inc. (FFO) is dedicated to providing individuals who suffer with physical and/or mental challenges the necessary tools to live as independently as possible. We provide affordable housing, education and support to enable individuals to live independently within the community. Our approach integrates recovery methodology through a community of care orientation. Our primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for each of our residents.
YOU HAVE ISSUES?
I was released to Sisters Nurturing Sisters, Inc. (SNS). They then referred me to FFO. They accepted me though I had no means of support, no ID, my head sick, no medical insurance and no one that was willing to take me in. These were just some of the issues I had. They did not rest until each of the major issues were gone away! Plus, they seem to have very much food. I eat well everyday. Here is love...I found a family that cares, will stick by me and help me. They are small but for me they are big. I am happy to find SNS and FFO! I want to learn to speak, read, write and understand English better. They are working on arranging this for me. I speak Oromo. (If there is anyone willing to help me with my English, please go to Contact Us.).

LATANYA'S STORY Staying here at Future Foundations Organization has changed my life.
I used drugs during my three pregnancies and as a result, the children were placed with foster families I did not know and ultimately removed from my custody: permanently. I did get to hold my son in my arms to tell him that mommy loved him and that he was going to be missed; told him to be good and that I will see him again, before they took him away from me. When I had my second child—a girl—she was placed with my son as well because I did not have a place to reside with her. Although I was using drugs, she did not have any drugs in her system as with my son. When I had my third child—a boy—I did not have a place to reside and; therefore, he was taken away from me and placed with his siblings. I am happy that they are safe and being well taken care of and are being raised together.
I learned to ask for help with my drug problem so that I would be able to visit with my children by entering into a drug program; of which I completed December, 2017 and had one slip shortly thereafter for a period of one month of which Mr. Lewis caught me using drugs in the house. It was costing too much to buy drugs, plus it was garbage. Using drugs was costing me to be behind in my rent and jeopardizing my housing.
I have been clean to this day, May 23, 2020. I attend self-help meetings, receive support from Mr. Lewis and his sister.
I have now been here at Future Foundations Organizations for five years learning how to live Independently and productive within the community.

A FRESH START
I am Shannon Krapf.
At Future Foundations, we, as individuals, build the skills that are needed to eventually live on our own. With these skills, we can have a productive future and be successful in our lives after leaving Future Foundations. This is what Future Foundations means to me.
I was living in institutions for 15 years before moving here to Future Foundations. Now, at Future Foundations, I am working on my budgeting skills, learning how clean and maintain a house. I look forward to one day leaving here and having my own place, being able to take care of my own place and having somewhere of my own to go and get peace of mind. I feel that moving here to Future Foundations is the very best thing that I have ever done!
